New proposal for Royal Albert Fields, Oaklands and Derby Home

Consultation - 29 June to 21 September 2009

NHS North Lancashire and Lancashire Care NHS Foundation Trust (LCT) are running a formal public consultation to address the future delivery of inpatient mental health services in Lancaster and Morecambe.

Public Meetings held by the Trusts

TheTrusts have arranged some drop in sessions at a variety of locations around North Lancashire. (Dates/venues are listed in the consultation document.)

In addition, they are holding 2 publics meetings:

  • Saturday 18 July, 10am, St Paul’s Church Hall, Scotforth
  • Monday 10 August, 6pm, Lancaster Town Hall, Banqueting Room

Three options have been proposed:

Option 1

Do minimum—refurbish Ridge Lea and provide enhanced risk management measures to sustain the service for the longer term.

Option 2

Provide adult inpatient services from Whyndyke Farm (Blackpool) when opened in circa 2012 and then close Ridge Lea

*Option 3

Develop the existing Oaklands Unit in Lancaster as a functional inpatient service and close Ridge Lea.

*Oaklands/Royal Albert - is LCT’s preferred option. Oaklands is the existing unit adjacent to the Royal Albert Fields site, opposite Cherry Tree Drive.

Read more about the proposal and see why we still believe that Ridge Lea is a better option.
